Online Class Technology

While this is not my first online course at OU, it is the first course I have had set up in this way. I think Professor Gibbs has a really great point about why the course is not set up on Canvas. Upon graduation, Canvas isn't a tool most will be using, but the skills and a working knowledge that we will gain by using platforms like Blogger and website publishing sites is something graduates in every field can benefit from.

As far as the support sites go, I had not heard about many of them prior to this course. I think that the Writing Laboratory will be extremely helpful since good writing skills are something that all students can benefit from.

The class calendar on the class wiki site is also going to be extremely helpful, I definitely bookmarked that! As someone that LOVES to plan and organize my school work, I also printed off that page so I could cross off the assignments that I have already done and stay up to date with the course. There is something so satisfying about crossing things off of a to do list!

  1. I share your feelings about crossing things off! I use a spreadsheet that basically rules my life, and it reminds me when I am supposed to do my daily/weekly tasks... and how many days late I am. It's color-coded with colors to scare me into action if I get really behind, ha ha. Some colors are definitely scarier than others. :-)

    1. Maybe I need to try color coding! Now I am at the point where I sometimes write things to do that I have already done, so I can cross them off, just so I feel like I have accomplished something! Haha
