Learning Challenge: The Present

I have watched this video before and absolutely loved it, so when I saw it on the extra credit options, I knew I had to do it! The Present is a short film about a boy and his dog, but it is so much more complex than that. In the short, a boy is given a puppy by his mom. From the start he dislikes the dog because it has a missing leg. He tosses it to the ground (a part I don't particularly like) and goes back to playing video games. The audience is left wondering why the boy doesn't like the dog. The puppy continues to play and finally the boy gives in and goes to take the puppy outside. This is when you learn that the boy himself is missing one of his legs and was taking his frustration out on the puppy. One part I like about this short is the beauty and love of animals. They are quick to forgive and never judge. They love purely and their happiness is infectious, as seen by the last shot of the short where the boy and the puppy are bonding.
