This is my third online class that I have taken at OU and it is so different from my previous experiences. I think I am really going to enjoy how the course is set up. I especially like that you can work ahead, since like most students, some of my weeks are cram packed with work and projects, and other weeks I find myself watching Netflix for hours on end. Since it is a course where you can work ahead, I plan to do so, not only so I can have a less crazy schedule when needed, but also so I can allow myself time to edit and revise my work in this class before dead and finals week.
As far as assignments go, I am most looking forward to the reading. I work at the Crimson Caller office and we are allowed to do homework as long as we don't use laptops, so I will probably print out the readings and take them with me to work, it always helps the shift go faster and I reckon there will be some really interesting stories this semester.
I also am interested in a lot of the extra credit assignments. I have done a Wikipedia trail too many times to count with random things I have looked up, so I definitely see myself doing some of those for extra credit. I also think the growth mindset assignments will be helpful.

Ha ha, that picture is great! And about readings: there are online reading options for class, and also print-based options, including books you can check out in Bizzell (and that's in addition to the comic books that are on Reserve). You'll start learning about how all that works later on; I am really excited about all the India books I was able to buy for us to have available in Bizzell! (The university gave me a grant to do that a few years ago... that's how we got the comic book collection!)
ReplyDeleteThe picture always makes me laugh, so I had to include it. I am not back to campus yet, I am still at my parent's house soaking up the last few days of break, but when I get back to Norman I will visit the Bizzell to check those out!
DeleteAha, the power of online: I know your parents are glad to have you at home, and I'm sure your dog is happy about that too. When you do get back to Norman, MANY pleasures await you in Bizzell. I just send you back an email with comments on the project ideas including a link to a book by Devdutt Pattanaik that we have in Bizzell which I am sure you will like: it is about the mythological animals of the Indian tradition! :-)
