Growth Mindset: Managing Negative Thoughts

Managing negative thoughts is a huge part of the growth mindset. If we do not believe it our ability of what we are "yet" to achieve, then how can we succeed? I think this infographic does a really great job of offering tips that everyone can incorporate into their lives to keep negative thoughts at bay, so I wanted to touch on some of my favorites and some that don't work for me.

Challenge your thoughts
For me, this is a really great strategy when I am working up the courage to try something new or go about a task in a way that I am not familiar with. "What's the worst that could happen?" keeps me realistic about my thoughts, since I sometimes assume the absolute worst.

Try Thinking...This is just one bad day
Taking each day one day at a time really puts things into perspective for me. Will what I am worried about matter in 12 hours? Will it matter in 3 days? Will it matter in a couple of months? I try to chose my battles with what I worry and harp on and this helps me put it into context.

Write down your negative thoughts
Personally, this is not a strategy that would work for me. I understand that this exercise is most likely suggested in order to recognize reoccurring negative thoughts, but I think writing them down would cause me to focus in on them too much

I am good enough
It is important to realize one's self worth and not let achievements or failure's define how we see ourselves.
