Andaman and Nicobar Islands

I saw these islands mentioned on the class Twitter feed and had never heard of them before. Since I like geography, I wanted to learn more. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are union territories of India and are located in the Bay of Bengal. The Andaman Island are also home to the Sentinelese People, which are a group of uncontacted people.

Sentinelese People

The Sentinelese resist contact and are among the last in the world to be untouched by modern civilization. There is no evidence that they have the means to produce fire or have any agriculture practices in place as they are mainly a hunter and gatherer tribe. One of the foods they regularly eat is sapodilla.

Sapodilla

Sapodilla is a fruit that is very sweet and has a malt like flavor. It is native to Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America, but it is grown in many Asian countries. The name in Spanish is derived from a Nahuatl word.

Nahuatl

Nahuatl is a language that we commonly know as Aztec. One thing that I thought was really cool is that Nahuatl influenced Filipino through the Spanish Galleon trade. Avocado also has its origin in Nahuatl.
