Snakes and Ladders
I started my Wikipedia trail with Snakes and Ladders. I saw in the course announcements that Snakes and Ladders is the origin of Chutes and Ladders, the famous board game. It has its roots in India. While reading about the game, it mentioned a boustrophedon and I had to learn more as I had no idea what it was.

Boustrophedon
A boustrophedon is a type of text that goes back and forth like an ox's plow in a field. I had never heard about this way of writing before. It was the inspiration for the fake language, Atlantean, in Atlantis: The Lost Empire, which is where I went next!

This was one of my favorite movies as a kid, so when I saw it mentioned in the previous article, I had to learn more. The article had a section about promotion that interested me as an ad major. I had no idea, but this film was one of Disney's first attempts in using mass scale internet marketing. They also had a partnership with McDonald's which featured in store decorations and Happy Meal toys.

Something cool I learned from this article is that Happy Meal's were introduced in 1979. McDonald's HQ was inspired by a woman who owned a McDonald's in Guatemala. She offered a "Ronald Menu" that had smaller portions to make it easier for mother's to feed their children.
